‘Nutcracker’ auditions slated for this weekend

Arts in Motion will have auditions and sign-ups for its 2012 production of the Roane County “Nutcracker” beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 22 in the Kingston studio on Hwy. 70.

With more than 170 performers from 15 surrounding   counties, the Roane County production is one of the largest “Nutcracker” performances in Tennessee.

This year’s performances will be Dec. 1-4.

A $10 audition fee will be charged per performer. Ages 5 and older are sought for dancing auditions on the following schedule:

• 10:30-11 a.m. — Ages 5-7.

• 11-11:30 a.m. — Ages 8-10.

• 11:30-12:45 p.m. — Ages 11-13.

• 12:45-3 p.m. — Ages 14 and older.

All dancers should dress in standard professional dress code and carry all ballet shoes.

Non-dancing roles are also available, particularly male and female teens and adults for the party scene. No audition is necessary for these roles; those interested should fill out paperwork.
