101st celebration for Bradford

Mary Lou Bradford will celebrate her 101st birthday with family and friends at Jamestown Assisted Living in Kingston on Oct. 24.

Born in Jackson County, Ala., she has been a resident of Kingston since 1940 and a member of Kingston United Methodist Church for 71 years.

Bradford has three living children, Dr. Mick Bradford of Charleston, S.C., Rosemary Alexander of Kingston and Frank Bradford of Chattanooga. Her deceased son, Bob Badger, practiced law in Kingston for many years.

She has 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Bradford baked pies for the Hut Restaurant and Cafeteria owned by her Brother, Paul Walsh, through the 1950s-60s.

She was the first female called to jury duty in Roane County.
