The 2009 high school baseball season was another good one for Roane County's five schools and those teams were rewarded with a total of 18 players and one coach being to various all-district teams.
Oliver Springs senior Patrick Burnett received the biggest award for a player as the Bobcat pitcher/catcher was named the District 4-A Slugger of the Year by the coaches in District 4-A.
Burnett was joined by five of his Oliver Springs teammates on the All-District 4-A team as Cruise Smith, Cody Taylor, Jonathan Thornton, Cary Gann and Andy Reed were also named to the squad.
Roane County's other big award winner came from District 3-A as Midway head coach Darrell Ruffner was named 2009 District 3-A Coach of the Year by his peers after leading the Green Wave to a fourth place finish in district play.
Three of Ruffner's players also made the All-District 3-A team as Josh Manning, Paul Hester and Matt Jarvis-Hillard are representing the Green Wave on the team.
Five other players, three from Harriman and two from Rockwood, were also named to the All-District 3-A Team. Harriman was represented by the senior of Nathan Smith, Christian Pryor and Taylor Walker while Rockwood's Tyler Skidmore and Collin Smith also made the team.
Roane County's other four all-district selections come from District 4-AA where Bruce Robinette's Kingston Yellow Jackets were represented by Alex Roberts, Alex Martin, Bradley Mitchell and Daniel Leslie.
