ACAC competes in Nashville

Twenty-three Atomic City Aquatics Club swimmers competed at the 2013 Long Course Southeastern Championships in Nashville.

After a strong performance the weekend before at the Senior Sectionals, the stage was set for a successful ACAC run at the Southeasterns. New qualifiers Madi Cottrell, Alison Craig, Mason Fischer, Kendal Goodman, J.T. Hinsley, Seth Hughes, Natalie Ingle, Maggie Sumner and Harrison Whitson helped spearhead the effort, achieving best times in 16 of 20 races.  

Veteran qualifiers Tanner Alexander, Sydney Goodman, Jonathan Goss, Loki Hondorf, Vidar Hondorf, Stevie Logan, Jake Mason, Brooks Maupin, Colby Maupin, Jack O’Connor, Sean O’Connor, Paul Schechter, Tiffany Taylor and Benjamin Thomas sealed the deal. 

Overall, 62 of 85 races resulted in best times.

Colby Maupin was outstanding, bringing in six top 10 finishes. Sean O’Connor placed seventh in the 800 Free and 14th in the 100 Fly. Mason had seven top 16 finishes. Goodman had two top 14 finishes. Fischer and Alexander, eight-year olds who qualified in the 10 and under divisionwith substantial time improvements in multiple races. Logan brought home 16th in the 100 Back.

“We had several great performances at this championship event. With many new qualifiers attending this meet, the results were beyond expectations,” coach Mike Bowman said. “Overall, everyone had fun. I just can’t wait to see who qualifies next year.”
