Aid for Alabama effort under way

-A A +A

Four Roane County churches are banding together in a communitywide effort to collect donations for Alabama tornado victims.

The effort, Aid for Alabama, is seeking new and slightly used household items to replace those lost due to the April 27 tornadoes that struck the state.

Volunteers from Kingston’s Victory Baptist Church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church, New Midway Baptist Church and Potters House Church of Midtown will collect all donations through May 25.

Donated items may be taken to a drop-off trailer at Lowe’s on Hwy. 70, Midtown, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Items needed include all kitchen supplies and small appliances, all furniture and décor, all bedding, all linens, all cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaners, irons and laundry-care items and curtain rods.

The public is asked to refrain from clothing or shoe donations.
