Alberta Ross wasn’t just a teacher; she was the kind of person who had her hands busy in many aspects of the community.
Ross, who died Sunday, taught for years, retiring after 12 years as principal of Central Elementary in Harriman.
She also was involved in many civic organizations including the Jaycettes, the auxiliary form of the Jaycees, or the U.S. Junior Chamber chapter her husband, Bill Ross, belonged to.
She also helped with festivities, including helping Harriman’s centennial committee prepare for the city’s 100th anniversary.
