All-State Band includes Grubb, RCHS junior

Michaela Grubb, a junior at Roane County High School in Kingston, was chosen last weekend to participate in this year’s Tennessee All-State Band.

Grubb was selected from several hundred applicants at auditions on Jan. 8 and will perform with the Tennessee All-State Band on April 6-9 at Opryland in Nashville.

Students from across Tennessee will rehearse for three days and then present a concert at the Tennessee Music Educators Convention.

Several other Roane County High students were chosen to participate in the East Tennessee Band and Orchestra All-East Honors Bands.

Each student was tested on a prepared solo, basic scales and the ability to sight read.

RCHS students selected for the Blue Band are Kelsey Adler, flute; Roger Mc-Kinney, trombone; Josh Riggs, tuba; and Nathan Williamson, percussion.

Participating in the Red Band are Erin Goldston, flute; Brianna Bingham, clarinet; Terrence Long and Shelley Starkey, trumpet; Katie Uselton and Caitlyn Swy-mer, trombone; and Jacob Glower,

The Green Band includes Rachel Lambeth and Desirae Voiles, flute; Rose Conner, clarinet; Sam Rose and Corey Reed, trombone.

The White Band is represented by Danielle Casaus, clarinet; Checovoia Foster and Madelin Kilbarger bass clarinet; and Jacob Chadwell, trombone.

The bands will rehearse for two days and present a concert in Gatlinburg on Feb. 3-5.
