I was quite amused when I read Commissioner Ron Berry’s quote saying that Roane County’s slow growth was due to the economy.
If that were the case, then all of the other counties would have had slow growth, too.
Instead, eight of 11 had two to six times the growth of Roane County.
Could our slow growth have been due to:
1) The ash spill?
2) The run-down, unappealing downtown areas of Kingston, Harriman and Rockwood?
3) The availability of only a handful of good restaurants?
4) The lack of good shopping?
