Artists sought for Day in the Park

The Arts Council of Roane County is issuing a call for artists to participate in its Day in the Park with Artists celebration.

The event will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 29 at Roane County Park pavilion 2 and surrounding areas.

“We currently don’t have any festivals dedicated to promoting the art and artists of Roane Coun-
ty,” said Denise May, the council’s artist coordinator. “An event like this offers a great opportunity for visual, literary, and performing artists to have their work seen by the public in a beautiful and festive environment.”

Booth space is available for visual and literary artists, as well as non-commercial food vendors raising funds for other nonprofit organizations.

The 10-by-10-foot booth spaces are available for $25 for the public and $20 for council members.

A limited number of spaces are available under the pavilion’s shelter. Park picnic tables are available for use in those spaces.

The pavilion is equipped with a stage, and the council welcomes performing artists to schedule free stage time.

Performers are welcome to “pass the hat” or offer a tip jar. Street performers are also welcome at the event at no charge; however, registration is required.

The deadline to reserve space and schedule performance time is June 1.

Depending on availability, late reservations may be accepted.

Artists and potential vendors are asked to email artscouncilofroanecounty@gmail.com for information and registration forms.
