Avery Trace DAR honors ’14 Good Citizens

Avery Trace Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, recently presented its 2013-14 DAR Good Citizen honor to four high school students in Roane County.


This year’s recipients are:

• Harriman High — Chloé Elizabeth Hill, daughter of Haskell Hill and Alice Monroe.

• Midway High — Michaela Joy Langley, daughter of Jeff and Tonya Langley.

• Roane County High — Tim Benson, son of Donnie and Tammy Manis.

• Rockwood High — Amber Monroe, daughter of Albe Monroe and

Mary Ann and Darrell Pugh.

Langley’s packet was forwarded to the Cherokee District, Tennessee Society DAR, for further competition.

The DAR Good Citizen award winners are selected for outstanding qualities of good citizenship, dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

Each honoree received a cash award, an NSDAR certificate, a Good Citizen pin and a wallet card.

Janice Black is regent of Avery Trace Chapter, NSDAR.

The DAR is a women’s service organization that encourages patriotism, promotes historic pre-servation and provides educational opportunities.
