Karoline Barnett recently served as a page in the state Senate.
Barnett, an eighth-grader at Cherokee Middle School, Kingston, was sponsored by state Sen. Ken Yager, R-Harriman.
She was accompanied to the capitol by her father, Elliott Barnett.
“I am pleased that Karoline had the opportunity to serve as a page for our State Senate,” Yager said. “It was a privilege to get to know her and be her sponsor. I hope thats he and all the pages I have sponsored will continue to be interested in her state government in the future.”
Yager issued an invitation earlier this year for area students to experience the legislature in action as a page in the state Senate.
Page duties consist of anything from making copies, running errands, to distributing legislative information to members of the General Assembly.
They report to the chief clerk of the House and Senate.
Yager represents the 12th Senatorial District, which includes Roane, Campbell, Fentress, Morgan, Rhea and Scott counties.
