Be careful what you feed your dog; this one nearly died

I live in Kingston and want to make pet owners aware of potential dangers of feeding their pets chicken treats. Some of them are made in China and have unknown contaminants in them.

I have a toy Pomeranian and thought chicken jerky would be as good as it gets for a treat. My little girl nearly died.

She was almost in renal failure before I realized anything was wrong.

She has to have a special diet for her kidneys now and takes a tablet a day to prevent liver damage.

The FDA has posted warnings on the Internet concerning chicken treats. They have had 70 reported cases linked to a contaminant called melamine. They do not know what other contaminants they might find. These contaminants are causing renal failure, liver damage and a sundry of gastrointestinal problems. Some deaths have occurred.

Please be aware of these concerns and don’t lose your pet.
