Boat races to return to city’s July 4th events

It’s official: boat racing has been fast-tracked to return to Kingston for the summer holiday season.

Kingston Parks and Recreation director Rick Ross told Kingston City Council members that the American Power Boat Association has signed on to hold its pro-class championship races in Kingston July 2-4.

Kingston has hosted drag boat racing events over the July 4 holiday in recent years. But this will be the first time in 18 years that the city has hosted oval track-style boat racing.
