Caney Creek Marina and the Knoxville Power Squadron will conduct America’s Boating Course, a comprehensive boating safety class, next month.
The four-day program will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. May 6 and 8 and May 15 and 16 in Caney Creek RV Resort office building at 3615 Roane State Hwy., Midtown.
“Whether you are a beginning boater of have years of boating experience, this class will increase skill, knowledge and confidence,” said Chuck Smith, one of class organizers.
The boater education course covers topics such as safety regulations, knot tying, river markers, chart understanding, right-of-way rules, Navigation, VHF radio protocol and boating laws.
This class qualifies for Tennessee licensing for those born after Jan. 1, 1989.
Class cost is $37 for individual, or $47 per couple sharing the same books. The cost includes all materials and examination.
An additional $10 will be charged for those taking the TWRA licensing test following the class.
