The Oliver Springs Bobcats baseball team put together a solid performance Friday evening in picking up a 15-5 victory over the Tellico Plains Bears in a game played at Arrowhead Park.

Tellico Plains started the game off with a run, but the Bears also left a man on second in the top of the first inning.

The ‘Cats responded in kind with RBI singles from Elijah White and Keith Roberts along with an RBI double from Tanner Turpin to take a 3-1 lead at the end of the first inning.

Tellico Plains threatened again in the top of the second inning. The Bears left a runner on third, but couldn’t score the run.

The Bobcats didn’t have that trouble in the bottom of the inning as Turpin and Jeremiah drove in runs to make the score 5-1.

Tellico Plains pulled within two runs on a run coming home on a fielding error in the top of the third inning, but Oliver Springs’ Zach Spoon and Luke Miller stole home and Matthew Gaylor drove in another run in the bottom of the frame to push the lead to 8-3.

Oliver Springs put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Starting with a solo blast from Turpin, which was followed by Austin Seiber, Dylan Seiber, and Gaylor driving in runs before Roberts stole home to make the score 14-3.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Bears got themselves a brief stay of execution in the form of a two-run double to make the score 14-5.

However, all they did was prolong the inevitable as Oliver Springs used a walk-off single from White in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the final score 15-5.

White (3-4, 2 RBIs, 1 walk), Turpin (2-3, 2B, HR, 3 RBIs), and Roberts (2-4, 2B, 1 RBI) were the leading hitters while White got credit for the win for Oliver Springs.
