After struggling to a 35-28 victory over Jellico at home in December, the Lady ’Cats made the trip to Jellico last Friday, but there would be no struggle in the rematch as Michelle Christopher’s squad rolled to a 50-31 victory.
The Lady ’Cats jumped on Jellico quick as Rachel Griffith buried a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in leading Oliver Springs to a 12-8 lead after eight minutes of play.
Oliver Springs blew the game open in the second quarter. Behind six points from Griffith, the Lady ’Cats outscored the Lady Devils 18-7 in the frame to take a 30-12 lead at halftime.
Jellico played much better in the second half, but they wouldn’t make a run at the Lady ’Cats. Jellico actually won the third period, 11-10, before both teams scored nine points in the final period.
Rachel Griffith scored 12 points in the second half and ended the evening with 26 points, five rebounds and five steals. Emily Griffith added nine points, eight steals and seven assists.
Natasha Taylor scored 11 points for the Lady Devils.

Oliver Springs knocked off the Blue Devils in their first meeting, but Jellico got its revenge in the rematch, 55-43.
Oliver Springs played well in the early going. In the first quarter, Taylor Murray pumped in eight points in leading the Bobcats to a 16-15 lead after eight minutes of play.
Oliver Springs’ point production was cut in half in the second period. The Bobcats were outscored 12-8 in the frame as Jellico took a 27-24 lead at halftime.
Things remained tight in the third period. Murray scored six more points, but the Blue Devils won the period 14-13 to take a 41-37 lead into the final period of play.
Oliver Springs’ offense, however, couldn’t keep up down the stretch. The Bobcats scored just six points in the final period as Jellico pulled away for the 12-point victory.
Murray led Oliver Springs on the night with 18 points while Aaron Noe (10 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) added a double-double.
Justin Bowlin (13 points, 6 assists, 4 steals), Austin Hunley (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Jason Hale (11 points) scored in double figures for Jellico on the night.
Oliver Springs hits the road again tonight (Friday) for another District 4-A contest. The Bobcats and Lady ’Cats play at Coalfield.
