Roane County’s General Sessions Court Office is being more attentive when it comes to receiving money after someone used a fake $20 bill to make a payment earlier this month.
“I have instructed my deputy clerks to be vigilant about checking the cash for possible counterfeit money,” Circuit Court Clerk Kim Nelson said last week.
Nelson, who oversees the Circuit, General Sessions, Criminal and Juvenile courts, said one of her clerks was counting money on Oct. 19 and noticed that one of the $20s looked odd.
