Students at Bowers Elementary School, Harriman, with perfect attendance for the 2012-13 school year were each rewarded with a bicycle for their accomplishment.

South Harriman Schools Alumni and Friends Organization presented the bicycles during the school’s annual awards day program.

More than 100 bicycles and helmets have been given to students by the group since it began the program 10 years ago.

The organization also presented gifts to Bowers’ color guard and a scholarship for a student to attend 4-H summer camp.

This is the 50-year anniversary of the last graduating class at the former South Harriman High School.

The alumni organization marked this key anniversary in May with a dinner and program, “Golden Homecoming,” at Roane State Community College.

More than 300 former students, teachers and associates of the South Harriman schools attended.
