Busy week for youth football

All five teams in the Tennessee Valley League saw some action Saturday and Monday. The two Oak Ridge teams made the most of the Saturday games winning all three games against Kingston and two of three at Harriman.

Monday night, Harriman pulled double duty and took two of three against Rockwood in a make up game from the week three rain.

Oak Ridge West vs. Kingston

Two weeks ago, Kingston got a big win in the last seconds against Oak Ridge, but the Ridgers turned the tables this time with a 14-6 win in a defensive struggle.

Javarie Ashford scored all five touchdowns in the win two weeks ago, but would manage only one TD run in the loss on Saturday.

Kendell Jackson scored all five Oak Ridge TDs two weeks ago, and came up with two more to give them the 14-6 win.

The Kingston hoppers are fell 34-0 to Oak Ridge last Saturday.

Kai'reese Pendergrass scored four touchdowns to give Oak Ridge the easy win.

The Kingston cutters stayed close to Oak Ridge cutters two weeks ago, but with a few players missing this time they fell 34-6. 

Nathan Jones scored the lone Kingston touchdown in the second quarter.

Tre Jackson and Herbert Booker scored two touchdowns each for Oak Ridge in the win.

Oak Ridge East vs. Harriman

Harriman did a little better in their first meeting with an Oak Ridge team this year. They lost the first and third games, but the Blue Devil hoppers remained unbeaten with a 20-14 win in double overtime.

The Harriman crickets fell 18-0 to Oak Ridge, but would turn around Monday against Rockwood and get a win.

The Harriman hoppers battled to a 14-14 tie in regulation play, but picked up the win in the second overtime period when Brady Stubbs found the end zone to give Harriman the win.

Johnny Cheers scored the two Harriman touchdowns in regulation play and Stubbs added a two-point conversion to tie the game at 14.

The Harriman cutters fell 34-6 to Oak Ridge. 

Nate Arrowood scored the only Harriman touchdown in the game.

Rockwood vs. Harriman

Harriman would roll to two big wins in the crickets and hopper games, but Rockwood rallied to get an impressive win in the cutter game to end the night.

Harriman used four different scorers to get a 28-0 win in the cricket contest. 

Tahdarius Boyd, Gearald Hannibal, Alan Huvey and Austin Edmonds scored touchdowns in the game. Huvey and Timothy Holder added two-point conversion runs.

The Harriman hoppers continued their streak with a 26-6 win over Rockwood. 

Johnny Cheers scored touchdowns with runs of 65 and 71 yards. Brady Stubbs and Jaiden Hannibal scored a touchdown each with short runs. Bradley Frost added a two-point run after the first Cheers touchdown.

Rockwood’s only score came on a Kyle Carr run that knotted the game at 6-6 in the first quarter.

The Rockwood cutters would end the night with a 34-6 win over Harriman.

Rockwood built an 18-0 lead by the early second quarter on touchdowns runs from Dylan Williams, Zander Price and Trey Treadway. Williams’ run was from five yards out, Price's covered 28 yards and Treadway added a 10-yard sprint to the end zone.

Harriman’s Nate Arrowood scored on a 15-yard sprint just before halftime to trim the lead to 18-6.

Williams scored again in the third quarter from five yards out and Price added the two-point conversion for a 26-6 lead. Colton Nuckols scored a touchdown in the late in the third quarter and added the two-point run to give the Rams the win.
