Kent Calfee said he misspoke during the Roane County Tea Party forum when he said he would “serve the liberal cause as best I can” if elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives.
“I had just been talking about some of the West Tennessee liberals and making a comparison and that was just a slip up,” explained Calfee, the Republican on the ballot for the seat now held by Julia Hurley.
Calfee defeated Hurley in the August Republican Primary.
Calfee has also insisted he’s a conservative during multiple interviews.
