Calfee, Yager invited to talk at breakfast

-A A +A

The Tennessee General Assembly has been in session since Jan. 14.

Bills dealing with election laws, Common Core Standards in education, Medicaid expansion, charter schools, Hall Income Tax, and the Affordable Care Act are being considered.

Oak Ridge League of Women Voters’ Breakfast with the Legislators provides a forum to get to know key decision makers and to ask questions on issues moving forward in state government.

State Sen. Ken Yager and state Rep. Kent Calfee have been invited to speak about the legislative outlook and respond to questions at the next event, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Feb. 24 in the social room of Oak Ridge Civic Center at 1401 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

They, along with state Sen. Randy McNally and state Rep. John Ragan, have been invited to give perspectives about this legislative session.

A free continental breakfast will be served.

Breakfast With the Legislators is the fourth Monday of every month while the Tennessee General Assembly is in session.

This community event offers firsthand information on upcoming legislation and House and Senate committee activities, as well as prompts dialogue among legislators and constituents and provides a great networking opportunity for members of the community.

If Oak Ridge schools are closed due to inclement weather, Breakfast With the Legislators will be canceled.
