Gann and his wife Donna greet a receiving line of friends and co-workers during Gann’s retirement celebration at Roane Medical Center annex. Gann retires this month after a career that started in accounting and spans almost 40 years. He’s still active with the hospital, though — he’s co-chairman of the “One Community. One Hospital.” fundraising campaign that supports new and expanded health-care treatments along with important patient-care services that cannot be billed for.
Thompson celebrates his retirement during a reception in the school library. Thompson left his job at the end of the 2010-11 school year, but his retirement becomes official this month. The former coach is a 51-year educator who spent 39 years at the helm of Rockwood Middle and its predecessor, Rockwood Junior High. Thompson, too, is continuing to remain active. He’s in his first term on Rockwood City Council, and he serves as the council’s liaison to the Rockwood Golf Board, which governs the Rockwood Golf Course and Country Club.
