Calvary downs Temple, 52-44

The Calvary Lady Crusaders picked up a key late season victory recently with a 52-44 win over Temple Baptist. 

Calvary came out of the gate strong as the junior duo of Lauren Treadway and Emily Plemons got the game started with back-to-back scores. Treadway (7 points) and Plemons (6 points) scored well throughout the period while Kayla Gamble added a short jumper. 

Strong defense from Gamble, Sydney Treadway and Morgan Cagle kept Temple in check.

Courtney Snow and Lauren Treadway scored buckets early in the second period then the remainder of the period was a battle at the charity stripe. Lauren Treadway was 6-of-6 from the line while Sydney Treadway was 1-of-2 to lead the Lady Crusaders to a 26-25 lead at halftime.

The third quarter would prove to be pivotal for the Lady Crusaders. Calvary outscored Temple 17-5 in the frame to widen the gap to 43-30.

Gamble got things going with a 3-pointer and ended the scoring with a jumper. In between, Sydney Treadway, Lauren Treadway and Plemons scored four points each for the Lady Crusaders.

The fourth quarter opened with Temple going on a 6-0 run, but the Lady Crusaders quickly adjusted with Gamble and Sydney Treadway scoring a basket each in the next two possessions. 

Calvary then maintained the lead at the free-throw line.

Lauren Treadway led Calvary with a game-high 22 points. Plemons (11 points) and Gamble (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Lady Crusaders.
