Carl “Bud” Helton Jr., 84, of Oakdale, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at his home.
He was a long time member of White Oak Baptist Church. He was retired from TVA Watts Bar Plant. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Mildred P. Helton; a son, Daniel Helton; his parents, Carl and Maude Stewart Helton; two brothers, Alvin and Willard Helton; and five sisters, Dorothy Redmon, Helen Bingham, Zella Bingham, Mary Burchfield and Madge Summers.
He is survived by five children, Steve Helton, Chris Carter, Julie Comer (Ricky), Mark Helton (Tammy) and Thomas Helton (Terri); seven grandchildren, Danny Helton (Faith), Art Rivers, Clifton Carter, Amber Kirby (Jon), Joshua Helton (Gayla), Amelia Comer and Jacob Helton; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Madyson, Audrey and Gracie; his stepmother, Irene Helton; a sister, Shirley Collins (Ray); many special nephews and nieces.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, in White Oak Baptist Church, Oakdale. Funeral services followed with Bro. Danny Jenkins and Bro. Billy Walker officiating. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Pine Orchard Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Danny Helton, Art Rivers, Clifton Carter, Jacob Helton, Joshua Helton and Jon Kirby. Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg, was in charge of arrangements.
