Celebration to honor community 'treasures'

The second floor of the county courthouse isn’t the place you’d expect to find a celebration.

It’s usually where people who commit crimes against society go to get sentenced by judges.

That won’t be the case Tuesday evening.

The second floor will be the site of the first annual Roane County Founder’s Day Celebration.

The event, hosted by County Executive Mike Farmer, begins at 7 p.m. is in honor of the county’s birthday — Nov. 6, 1801.
