Cherokee and Midway Middle School met for the second time this season Thursday night at Midway.
Cherokee’s girls picked up a sweep after a 29-7 victory, but Midway’s boys earned a split when they held off the Yellow Jackets for a 33-28 win.
It was an easy night for coach Ashley Brackett’s Lady Jackets as they won every quarter and played a lot of players.
Cherokee led 10-2 at the end of one with Kaylee Wilson and Piper Nunley scoring two hoops each.
Midway did score in every quarter, but only two points in the first three quarters and a single point in the fourth.
Cherokee tacked on 10 more points in the second period to lead 20-4 at halftime.
Kaylee Wilson and Rachel Baggett scored three points each for Cherokee in the second quarter.
Cherokee scored six more points in the third and three in the fourth to put the finishing touches on their 22-point victory.

Cherokee led 8-7 at the end of one, but a 10-3 second quarter gave Midway a lead they would never give up. Cherokee did cut the lead to one twice in the fourth quarter, but could not come up with a score that would give them a lead.
Cherokee jumped out to an 8-7 lead at the end of one on two hoops from Cameron Hardin. Jake Woody scored three baskets for Midway in the opening period.
Woody kept the pressure on in the second with two more hoops to give Midway a 17-11 lead at halftime.
John Walden scored all three Cherokee points in the second.
Midway won the third quarter 8-5 to hold a nine-point lead at the end of the quarter. Skyan Lyle ripped a pair of treys in the period to lead the Green Wave.
Cherokee chipped away at the Midway lead and did get within one point twice in the last minute of the game.
Cameron Hardin and Riley Hardin led the charge with two hoops each.
Midway held on with Woody, Landon Davidson, and Drake Romines scoring baskets. Woody’s basket came when Cherokee had cut the lead to one.
