Christmas lighting among Gala offerings

Auction items are pouring in, and the rumor is that Men in Black, James Bond and many of the Bond girls will be attending the 2012 Roane Alliance Gala: Mission Possible.

“This year’s theme is a celebration of the year’s successes,” said Leslie Henderson, president/CEO of The Roane Alliance.

“We see our 2012 Gala as a chance to enjoy those successes — from our new Volkswagen plant to our new hospital and all the new retail in between.”

The Alliance Gala, one of the social events of the year for the Roane County region, will be on Nov. 9 in Rothchild Catering in West Knoxville.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a wine reception and a huge silent auction with hundreds of holiday bargains. A gourmét dinner, entertainment and a live auction are also on tap.

Auction items include purebred puppies, including a Yorkshire terrier; original artwork by area artists; weekend getaways to locales such as Tunica; full-length furs; fine jewelry; dinner at Whitestone Country Inn; spa and massage packages; a Pat Summitt autographed basketball; gourmét and gift baskets; $500 worth of outdoor Christmas lighting; acupuncture; dozens of certificates for restaurants, concerts, attractions, museums, fitness centers – and even a spy kit.
Money raised from the Gala goes toward funding the many economic development programs The Alliance administers throughout the year.

Development focuses on education and workforce, industrial and retail, tourism and business and retention through programs such as EducationMatters!, Retire Roane, Lunch and Learn Workshops and Teachers Supply Closet.

“The successes Roane County has experienced over the past year is in large part because of the hard work of The Roane Alliance,” said Sharon Templeton, The Roane Alliance board chairwoman. “Please support our Gala so we can continue making our mission possible.”
