The Clinton Lady Dragons soccer team was certainly breathing fire Monday night as they scorched the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats by an 8-1 margin.
“If we would have played the first half like we did the second half, this game would have been a lot closer,” Oliver Springs head coach Josh Pryor said. “We just came out flat tonight early on and never recovered.”
Clinton's first goal came very early on when Cassie Franse scored following an Allie Knowles assist for the 1-0 lead. Franse scored the next goal to put the Lady Dragons up by a 2-0 margin.
Sami Joy would score on a Knowles assist to make the score 3-0. Joy was at it again with her second goal on an Abbie Isaacs assist to make the score 4-0. Joy scored the last goal of the half to make the score 5-0.
Franse scored the first goal of the second half on a Knowles assist to make the score 6-0 then Franse would get her fourth goal on an Abbey McLain assist to make the score 7-0.
Oliver Springs would break the shutout on a Lea Koch goal to make the score 7-1 then Maddie Irons scored the last goal for the Lady Dragons to make the final 8-1.
Clinton was led in scoring by Franse (4 goals), Joy (3 goals), and Irons (1 goal).
Lea Koch scored the lone goal for the Lady 'Cats.
The Lady 'Cats Kara Young had 11 saves while Clinton's Vickie Franse had 9 saves. Clinton had 28 shots on goal compared to 11 for the Lady 'Cats.
“We need to work on everything,” Oliver Springs assistant coach Tyler Evans said. “We need to work on ball possession, ball handling, possession awareness, and communicating as a team. We struggled a lot in that area tonight.”
