Coalfield splits with Bobcats

Decisive. 

That's about all that can be said in regards to the 50-6 win by the Oliver Springs Middle School Lady Bobcats over the Coalfield Thursday night at Coalfield. 

The Lady ’Cats got out to a 16-1 first period lead with Keeley McDonald (7 points) leading the Lady ’Cats in scoring. 

Oliver Springs used a 13-3 second period tilt to get out to a 29-4 halftime lead. McDonald (12 points) led the Lady ’Cats at the half. 

Any hopes of a Coalfield rally got extinguished with a 19-2 third period as the lead was pushed the lead to 48-6 at the end of the third period. 

Oliver Springs scored the only points of the final period to take the 50-6 win. 

McDonald (12 points), Taylor Bradshaw (10 points), and Morgan Hackworth (6 points) led the Lady ’Cats in scoring.

Ashley Armstrong (6 boards) and Brooklyn Jones (5 boards) also played well in the win.

Boys Game

The Yellow Jackets squad has been generating a lot of positive buzz lately, only adding to their dominance with a 51-26 win over Oliver Springs. 

The Jackets had a whopping 20-0 first period with Parker McKinney (11 points) pacing the Jackets in scoring. 

After an 11-7 tilt by Oliver Springs in period number two made the score 27-11 at the end of the first half.

Keegan White led Oliver Springs in the first half with six points.

The Jackets kept it up in the second half. Coalfield outscored Oliver Springs 16-8 in the third period and 8-7 in the final period to make the final score 51-26.

The Jackets had a 38-22 tilt on the boards and a 19-5 tilt in team steals. 

McKinney (18 points), Jacob Coker (11 points, 8 boards), and Johnny Carroll (6 points, 9 boards) paced the Jackets in scoring. 

Oliver Springs was led by White with eight points and six boards.
