Morgan County School officials are working with the Morgan County Sheriff’s office to find those suspected of breaking into Sunbright School last week.
Director of Schools Mike Davis said alerts have gone out to parents warning them that some student information may be breeched as a result of the break-in.
Two computer hard drives were taken from the nurse’s station and Davis said those hard drives contained personal information for some students attending Sunbright School. Davis said information for students only in kindergarten and grades 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 were on the computers and at risk.
Any parents who are concerned that their child’s social security number may have been stolen, may contact the Social Security Administration to find out how to be sure it is not used by someone else.
Davis said the computers are password protected and it would require a highly experienced computer operator to be able to access the data.
Letters are being sent home to parents with students and Sunbright School and his staff will do their best to keep parents up-to-date.
Anyone with information should contact Morgan County Sheriff Dennis Ledbetter at 346-6262.
School security tapes are being reviewed in an attempt to identify the burglars.
