Cases in the local court system just got a little more expensive.
The Roane County Commission voted to increase the litigation tax on civil and criminal cases from $25 to $50 at Monday night’s meeting.
The county’s 2008-09 budget was also passed at the meeting, which was moved from the courthouse to the Kingston Community Center because of the Leon Houston murder trial.
The $104.4 million budget does not call for a hike in the property tax rate.
