Avery Trace Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution recently held its fourth annual Flag Day Golf Tournament at Southwest Point Golf Club.

This annual tournament enables the Avery Trace Chapter to support projects in the Roane County community.

These projects include aid to our military veterans and support of the new VA Clinic in Harriman, a “Mini Flag Etiquette” program that is given to first graders in the Roane County school system, surveying and recording data in area cemeteries, awarding a $400 book scholarship to a History major at Roane State Community College, presenting to one high school senior in Roane County high schools the DAR good Citizens award which includes a $100 check to each winner, a Roane County Revolutionary Soldiers War Monument, and conducting a U. S. flag recognition and replacement program throughout Roane County.
