The Avery Trace Chapter petitioned the national society’s conservation committee to recognize Largen for his preservation of plants, animals and their habitats through the gift of part of his family farm to Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency for McGlothin-Largen Wildlife Management Area on the Tennessee River.

The area, dedicated on Sept. 24, 2012, includes fishing piers, walkways and a dove-hunting area.

Future expansion of services is planned.
