Pat Adkisson

Pat Adkisson, 53, of Coalfield, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at her home.

A retired hairdresser, she was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, and she dearly loved her five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Georgia Mae Adkisson.

Survivors include her companion, Bill Hedgecoth; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Leslie Roberts of Kingston; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Wesley Silvey of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Jacob Hamby, Brody Roberts, Austen Silvey, Riley Roberts and Kade Roberts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Annette Adkisson and Ray Jr. and Carolyn Adkisson, all of Coalfield; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral service was at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Jackson-Oliver Mortuary, Oliver Springs, with Bro. Terry Spanky Braden officiating. Graveside service and burial were at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Estes Cemetery, Coalfield.

Cleda ‘Sally’ Clawson

Cleda “Sally” Clawson, 53, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007.

A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she was a Jehovah’s Witness and a member of the Wartburg Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness congregation. She was born Jan. 19, 1954, in the Stone Building, Oliver Springs, and was a lifelong resident of the area who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was a warm-hearted, loving, long-term caregiver who enjoyed flower gardening and animals, especially cats.

She was preceded in death by father, Johnny Phillips; and granddaughter, Tiffany Young.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Clawson of Oliver Springs; mother, Mo-rene Davis Phillips of Oliver Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Phillips and fianc Louie Massengill of Lake City, Stephanie and Jesse Braden of Oliver Springs, Paula Young of Clinton and Erica and Timothy Pratt of Powell; grandchil-dren, Jessica Braden, Brandon Young, Alicia Young, Brittany Phillips, Renee Phil-lips, Kayne Lowe, Billy Phillips and Cody Phillips; brothers and sister-in-law, Buford and Patty Phillips of Oliver Springs and Robert Phillips of Oak Ridge; nieces, nephews and special friends; and a great spiritual inspiration, Judy Lloyd.

Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Sharp Funeral Home chapel, Oliver Springs, with Brother Charles Bentel officiating. Graveside service and burial were at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Graves Gap Cemetery.

Vida Jane Dunn Jones

Vida Jane Dunn Jones, 74, of Harriman, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at her home.

A member of Trinity Baptist Church, Harriman, for more than 35 years, she started the church’s AWANA Club in 1973 and served faithfully until 2003. She was a 1954 graduate of Practical Bible Training School (now Davis College), John-son City, N.Y., and served with the Tennessee Mountain Mission, Dayton, from 1953-73.

She was preceded in death by parents, Sam and Madeline Dunn.

Survivors include her husband, Martin W. Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin Dunn of Medina, N.Y., Milford and Joan Dunn of Lyndonville, N.Y., and the Rev. Ray and Barb Dunn of New Carlisle, Ohio; sister-in-law, Emily Jones of Knox-ville; four nephews; five nieces; and dear friend, Iva Hoover Killian of Dallas, Pa.

A celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in Trinity Baptist Church, Harriman, with the Rev. Ray Dunn and Pastor Tim McMichael officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1729 Harriman Hwy., Harriman, TN 37748.

Georgia Belle Oran Keys

Georgia Belle Oran Keys, 68, of Kingston, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Daisy Brackett; and brothers, Jerry and Charles Brackett.

Survivors include sisters, Billie Sue Oran of Rockwood, Faye Gallagher of Bean Station and Wilma Hill of Spring City; children and spouses, Chuck and Michele Oran, Jim and Tonya Oran, Sherry Oran and Daniel Bredwell, Sam and Kristy Oran and Jennifer and Scott Fugate, all of Kingston; grandchildren, Lucas, Abbie, Harli-Blaine, Rayli, Stefanie Bridges, Shelbie, Sammy, Marshall and Erica; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Evans Mortuary chapel, Rock-wood, with the Rev. Randy Griffis officiating. Burial was at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood. Nephews served as pall bearers.

Carolyn Presley Hensley, 61

Carolyn (Presley) Hensley, 61, of Petros, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at home in Sugar Grove Valley. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Bernice (Wallace) Presley; son, Brian Keith Hensley.

Mrs. Hensley is survived by her husband of 38 years B.W. Hensley of Sugar Grove Val-ley; daughter, Michelle (Hensley) Fulford of Bristow, Va.; son, Gregory Hensley of Bristol; grandsons, Nathan Fulford of Va., Michael Hensley of Ca.; brothers, Jim Presley and wife Irene of Ala., Ted Presley of Petros; sister, Janice (Presley) Cardon and husband Jim of Petros; chosen sister, Jeanette Patrick and husband Tom; aunts, Irene (Cotton) Daugherty, Josephine Scarbrough, Emma Ruth (Glen) Hammonds; nieces and nephews, Amanda Netherland, Chris Presley, Tina Renee and husband David, Jamie Kilpatrick, Paula Fugate, James Dwayne Presley, Joshua Presley, James Thad Presley, Amy Presley and David Presley.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, November 28, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. The funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28th at 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral possesion to gravesite from Schuberts. Graveside service will be Thursday, November 29th at 11 a.m. in New Petros Ceme-tery.

Robert Kevin ‘Robby’ James, 35

Robert Kevin ‘Robby’ James, 35, of Gatlinburg, formerly of Harriman, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 at Ft. Sanders Medical Center in Sevierville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert James, Jr. and Carolyn Lee York.

Mr. James is survived by his brothers and sisters, Chuck and Scott Stringfield, Angie Rines, Greta Stringfield, Phil James, Debra Hazelwood and Gail Pope; step-mother, Bessie James and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Nov. 28, 2007 at 12 p.m. in the Piney Grove Cemetery with Rev. David Harmon officiating. Family and friends met at Davis Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m.

Louis Hershel Oney, 80

Louis Hershel Oney, 80, of Wartburg, passed away Tuesday morning Nov 27, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge surrounded by his loving family.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a guard at the Japan Im-perial Palace. He was a founding member and first Captain of the Morgan County Rescue Squad and a member of 1st Baptist Church of Wartburg.

He was past master and 50 year member of Emerald Lodge #377 of Wartburg and Kerbela Temple in Knoxville. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 39 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Louis Oney; parents, Charles Oscar and Eva Collins Oney; and brother, Harold Oney.

Mr. Oney is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian Shannon Oney; brothers, Earl Oney and wife Virginia of Wartburg and Oscar Oney Jr. and wife Christine of Spring City; sister, Relda Mae Oney of Wartburg; sister-in-law; Wanda Oney of Somerset, Ky.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Mary Newberry of Wartburg, Houston and Edna Shannon of Wartburg; along with several special nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Thursday Nov. 29, 2007 form 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral service followed at 8 p.m. with Rev. Bill Goodman and Rev. Roy Lan-gley officiating.

Graveside service was held Friday at 11 a.m. at Morgan Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Roane County Honor Guard.

Pat Adkisson, 53, of Coalfield, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith and was a retired hairdresser. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She dearly loved her five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Georgia Mae Adkisson.

The family received friends on Sunday evening, Dec. 2, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jackson-Oliver Mortuary in Oliver Springs. Funeral services began at 7 p.m. with Bro. Terry Spanky Braden officiating. A graveside service was held on Monday morning at 11 a.m. in the Estes Cemetery in Coalfield.

Cleda ‘Sally’ Clawson, 53

Cleda ‘Sally’ Clawson, 53, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, fell asleep in death on Nov. 30, 2007. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and a member of the Wartburg Kingdom Hall Of Je-hovah’s Witness congregation.

Born Jan. 19, 1954 in the Stone building in Oliver Springs, she was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Clawson was affectionately known as “Sally”. She enjoyed flower garden-ing, animals, and especially cats.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Phillips; and granddaughter, Tiffany Young.

Mrs. Clawson is survived by her husband, Joseph Clawson of Oliver Springs; mother, Morene Davis Phillips of Oliver Springs; four daughters, Angela Phillips and fiance Louie Mas-sengill of Lake City,

Funeral services followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Charles Bentel officiating. Burial and graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Graves Gap Cemetery.

Ronald W. ‘Ronnie’ Jones, 61

Ronald W. ‘Ronnie’ Jones, Sr., 61, of Coalfield, formerly of Sunbright, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. He was a veteran of the Viet-nam Conflict, having served three years aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Kitty Hawk as a B.T. He was a steam power operator at the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge for the past 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Allen Jones; parents, Amil and Stella Eng-land Jones; and brother, Jackie Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 38 years, Charlona Capps Jones, of Coalfield; son, Ronald W. Jones, Jr. and wife Debbie of Helenwood; grandson, Jordan Thomas Jones of Deer Lodge; sisters, Betty Roberts and family of Hubert Heights, Ohio, Kathy Murray of Naples, Fla., Peggy Davis and family of Jamestown, Ohio, Kay Olmstead and family of Deer-lodge; brothers, Joe Jones and family of Allardt and Byrl Jones and family of Sunbright.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 p.m., Dec. 5, 2007 at Schubert Funeral Home, Sunbright with Bro. Herb Judkins officiating. Interment will be in the Union Grove Church Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Schu-bert Funeral Home, Sunbright.

Alpha Mae Maden Young, 94

Alpha Mae Maden Young, 94, of the Mill Creek Community, born Aug. 5, 1913, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Scott Co. Hospital, Oneida. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gilbert Young; daughters, Neva Mae Edwards and Willie Mae Young; son, William Gilbert Young, Jr.; parents, William and Gustie Cronwell Maden; sisters, Maude Young, Mary Huckaby and Matilda Walters; and brothers, Oscar Maden and John Maden.

Mrs. Young is survived by her sons, James Young of Mill Creek and Roy Young and wife Sharolyn of Robbins; daughter-in-law, Wilda Young of Mill Creek; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Sunbright. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church with Bro. David Dial officiating. Interment followed at Mill Creek Cemetery.
