Devils top TSD, 69-53

In a boys only contest, Harriman and Tennessee School for the Deaf (TSD) took the floor Monday night and battled for all 32 minutes. Harriman dominated for most of the game and was lead by Xavier Howard’s 29 points. The Blue Devils won the game by a final score of 69-53.

Harriman won the tip and pushed the ball often going on an 8-0 run to open the first quarter. The Blue Devils committed a foul midway through the quarter that led to TSD’s first point of the game.  

The Vikings did not back down from Harriman and got some points late in the quarter to cut the lead to 17-7. 

Harriman come out in the second and outscored TSD 22-9 to go into halftime up 39-16. 

Harriman came out in the second half and went on a 15-9 run to go up by 29.  Midway through the quarter, Harriman showed some class putting in the subs just trying to coast the rest of the way.  

Late in the third, TSD came on strong, scoring 10 unanswered points to cut the lead back to 19. 

TSD then came out on fire with another 10-0 run to cut the lead to just nine points to start the fourth quarter.  

The Blue Devil starters came back in late in the fourth quarter to close out the game, winning by a final of 69-53. 

Howard led Harriman on the night with 29 points and four rebounds while Chris Works added 12 points. 

Harriman’s girls did not play Monday, but both the Devils and Lady Devils will be in action again next Tuesday when they host Midway. Harriman will host Coalfield next Thursday in their last game before Christmas.
