Friday night will be a big night for area youth league baseball players as the start of Dixie Youth postseason play begins in two age groups.
A total of two Dixie Youth west sub-district tournaments will begin with teams from Roane County playing in Rockwood and Spring City.
The Dixie Youth A sub-district tournament for ages 5-6 will take place in Rockwood.
A total of seven teams will battle it out in Rockwood with a total of three games being played on Friday.
Two games will take place at 6 p.m. Friday with Harriman playing Caryville National in one game while Lake City plays Rockwood in the other contest. The 7:30 p.m. game will feature Caryville American versus Kingston.
Spring City received a first round bye.
The double elimination tournament will continue on Saturday and will run through Tuesday with the top two teams advancing to the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament that begins Friday, June 28 at Tellico Plains.
Spring City will be hosting the Dixie Youth AA sub-district tournament for ages 7-8.
Like Rockwood, seven teams will participate in the AA sub-district that begins on Friday.
Friday’s schedule will see two games being played at 6 p.m. and the third game being played at 8 p.m.
Spring City and Harriman along with Rockwood and Kingston will play at 6 p.m. with Caryville National taking on Lenoir City at 8 p.m.

The double elimination tournament will continue on Saturday and will run through Tuesday with the top two teams advancing to the Dixie Youth District 8 AA Tournament that begins Friday, June 28 at Greenback.
District 8 will not have sub-district tournaments in AAA (ages 9-10) as they will only have the district tournament that begins July 5 in Sweetwater.
A total of eight teams will participate at Sweetwater with four games being played the opening Friday.
Two games will begin a 6 p.m. with Greenback playing Rockwood while Sweetwater takes on Caryville. At 8 p.m., Kingston takes on Tellico Plains with Harriman taking on Madisonville.
The double elimination tournament will run through Thursday, July 11 .
Like AAA, District 8 will not have a sub-district tournament in the 11-12-year-old division (Ozone).
The District 8 Ozone Tournament will be played in Spring City, beginning on July 5.
A total of six teams will participate in the tournament with Rockwood and Harriman representing Roane County.
Harriman and Rockwood will both play at 6 p.m. on July, 5 with Harriman playing Greenback while Rockwood tussles with Tellico Plains.
The remaining first round game will pit Madisonville against Spring City at 8 p.m.
The double elimination tournament will run through Thursday.
The top two teams in each district tournament will advance to state tournament play in July. The Dixie Youth A and AA state tournaments will be held in Jackson beginning July 11. The AAA State Tournament will be in Sweetwater beginning July 18 and the Ozone State Tournament begins in Dyersburg on July 18.
Rockwood will also be the host of the Dixie Youth Region I AA World Series beginning on July 26.
