Eat pancakes to help feed seniors

-A A +A

A pancake breakfast is planned this weekend to support the work of Mid-East Community Action Agency’s senior nutrition program.

The breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 26 in Victorian Square Assisted Living, Rockwood.

The $5-per-person cost includes pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

All proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the senior nutrition program.

Mid-East’s senior nutrition program provides one nutritionally balanced meal each weekday to eligible individuals in a congregate or home-delivered meal setting in Roane and Loudon counties.

Five congregate nutrition sites are in both counties. Individuals are placed on the mobile meal program through assessment and are referred to the program by family, friends, social-service agencies, home health agencies and clergy.

Presently, 150 individuals are on a waiting list to receive the home-delivered meals.

Call 354-0450, Ext. 228, for more about the fundraising breakfast or the senior nutrition program.
