Embark on 'A Sentimental Journey' with Roane Choral Society

Roane Choral Society will present “A Sentimental Journey” at 7 p.m. March 5 in the student lounge on Roane State Community College’s main campus.

The evening with coffee and dessert will include Roane Choral’s renditions of old favorites such as “Sentimental Journey,” “As Time Goes By” and “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.”

A three-piece band will accompany the singers. Several ensembles are also planned.

Eugene Hattaway leads the Roane Choral Society as music director/conductor for his second season. He is minister of music at Tellico Village First Baptist Church and director of the Whitestone Singers and the Knoxville Nativity Pageant.

Mary Hook is also in her second year as accompanist for the Roane Choral Society. She is the pianist/organist at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Kingston. She has been active as a teacher, soloist, and accompanist with extensive performance experience.

Roane Choral Society is a nonprofit organization which provides grants to music programs in local schools each year.

Through musical excellence, diversity and a commitment to education, the group seeks to develop greater involvement and interest in choral events within the community.
