Emily A. McCormick of Lancing, passed away on Oct. 22, 2007. She slipped away peacefully in her sleep after a brief, but hard-fought battle against renal cancer. Emily was a faithful member of Shady Grove Church in Lancing She was born on Sept. 17, 1922 in Lancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Ray Melton and Armilda Katherine (Aunt Millie) Potter Melton of Lancing; three brothers, Emerson Melton of Powell, Edward Melton of Bakersfield, Ca. and Arthur Melton of Lancing.

Mrs. McCormick is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Jewell Melton of Jellico and Ola and Coleen Melton of Lancing; two sisters, Elma Howard and Nina Watson, both of Lancing; two daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Bobby Collins of Spring Valley, Ca. and Linda and Robin Marmon of Lancing, seven grandchildren and their spouses, Steve (and Liz) Collins of Santee, Ca., Danny (and Cheryl) Collins of Santee, Ca., Kim (and Peter) Pasche of Parkland, Fla., Cody Marmon of Lancing, Robyn (and Greg) Bunch of Lancing, Jennifer (and Phillip) Detrick of Wartburg and Sean (and Tori) Marmon of Murayama-shi Yamagate-kin, Japan; constantly surrounded by her great-grandchildren, she deeply loved all twenty of them, Jessica Collins, Danny Collins, Sheena Morgan, Tawny Grimm, Hunter Collins and Melissa Collins, all of Santee, Ca. Josie Pasche, Gena Pasche and Jacob Pasche, all of Parkland, Fla. James Ewing, Sara Ewing, Jessica Ewing, Danielle Ewing, Jeremy Bunch, Dustin Bunch, Caitlin Bunch, James Hawn, Jr., Cameron Hawn, Phillip Detrick, Jr. and Emily Marmon all of Lancing and Wartburg.

The family received friends Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. A graveside service was held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the Kubley Cemetery, Lancing, with Bro. Billy Durham officiating.

Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg was in charge of arrangements.
