Entries sought for Obed photography contest

The National Park Service welcomes photographers to submit entries for an exhibit at the Obed Wild and Scenic River Visitor Center.

Striking digital images of nature, highlighting the diversity of life in the park, are sought. Images may show wildlife, plant life, natural landscapes, weather or people interacting with nature within Obed Wild and Scenic River.

All photographs, except those submitted as artistic, should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared.

Categories include fauna, animals in their natural habitat, including close-ups of invertebrates; flora, plants in their natural habitat, including close-ups of flowers, fungi, lichen and algae; landscapes of expansive and dramatic views of the land and its features; artistic of compositions in nature both natural and manipulated in post processing; and youth for photographers younger than 18 — each photograph must fit the criteria of the first four categories.

Each photographer may submit up to three photographs. Photographers may choose to submit their three photos in multiple categories or in one category only.

Entries will be judged on technical excellence, originality, creativity, visual impact and artistic merit.

Entries must be received no later than Aug. 19. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form with all information clearly filled out.
