Exhibit shows off Oak Ridge in artwork

Works of art by seven Oak Ridge artists depicting historical structures, lifestyle and nature through framed prints and oil on canvas are part of the Oak Ridge in Art exhibition on view through Jan. 5, 2014, at the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge.

Works of Nick Fielder, Pat McWilliams Hopkins, Fred Heddleson, Helen Guymon, Helen Bayless, Irvin Grossman and Nancy Smith show off such structures as the 1920s arched Solway Bridge, Chapel on the Hill, Gallaher Ferry, Alexander Inn, American Museum of Science and Energy and other images of Oak Ridge townsite buildings.

Participating artists used media including oil on canvas, oil on art board and print.

The American Museum of Science and Energy is at 300 S. Tulane Ave.

It’s open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
