Betty Jenkins Abbott

Betty Jenkins Abbott, 87, of Kingston, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008.

Born March 2, 1920, in Kingston, she was one of 11 children of James and Stella Robinson Jenkins, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up on her parents’ farm in the Poplar Springs community, and her assigned chore at age 6 was milking the cows. As a child, she loved working outside and enjoyed all-day quilting events at the homes of her mother and sister.
