Leon Wesley, 74, of Oakdale, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
Born May 23, 1933, in Ansel, Ky., he moved to Tennessee in 1965. He was a longtime member of Pine Orchard Baptist Church, Oakdale. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who was employed with Morgan County Recycling Center and was retired from the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by mother, Thelma Christine Wesley; grandparents, Amanda and George Wesley; sisters, Freida Wesley, Clarice Pennington and Betty Turpin; brother, Janice Floyd Wesley; special aunt and uncle Elma and Estel Sneed; brothers-in-law, Donald Young, Ronnie Young, Doug Young, Audie Wesley and Henry Turpin; and son-in-law, Mac Delius.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Louise; daughters and son-in-law, Joyce Brown of Kingston, Sue Delius and Tammy and Mark Helton, all of Oakdale; sons and daughter-in-law, and Roland Brown of Harriman and Tim and Linda Wesley of State College, Pa.; grandchildren, Paul Brown and Amanda Brown, both of Kingston, Wesley Delius, Christy Delius, Joshua Helton and fiancee Shaylynn Boring and Jacob Helton, all of Oakdale; brother and sister-in-law, William and Edith Wesley of Ohio; sister; Dolly Wesley of Science Hill, Ky.; special niece and nephew, Violet and Lewis Taylor of Bethel Ridge, Ky.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shirley Abell of Kingston, Ralph and Sandra Young and Sharon and Larry Davis, all of Harriman, George and Patty Young of Loveland, Ohio, Wilma and Bruce Day of Hendersonville, Barbara Brown and Brenda Young, both of Rockwood, Wayne and Tina Young and Doug and Debbie Langley, all of Oakdale, and Sherry Scarborough of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday Feb. 25, in Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pine Orchard Baptist Church, Oakdale, with the Rev. Danny Thomas and the Rev. Danny Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Brown, Wesley Delius, Joshua Helton, Jacob Helton, Scott Taylor, Robert Taylor, Bruce Day and Doug Langley.
