February 25 Harriman Happenings

-A A +A
By Louise Warmley

On Feb. 9-10, Carolyn Clemmons along with her son Mel and wife Stephanie spent the weekend in Gatlinburg.

Carolyn’s grandson, Mel Lee Clemmons, was nominated to East Tennessee All State Band. He attends West High School in Knoxville and is a sophomore. He plays the trombone.

The concert was great, and there were about 100 students in the band. Others who attended were Mel Lee’s mother Yana and Sean Powell, sisters Kayla and Seine and grandmother Shanda.

We are very proud of Mel Lee’s accomplishments. Chase and Caden came to see their big brother play, too.

Roy Clemmons and Hadassah recently became first-time parents of a baby boy. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long. His name is Tennessee Clemmons.

Roy is a former resident of Harriman and graduate of Harriman High School. Hadassah is a nurse. They live in Canton, Ga.

Alvin Boyd from California and Gary Boyd and his wife from Washington, D.C., spent a few days here with their mother, Ruby Jean Boyd, who is ill.

Distance does not keep these young men from coming home to see their mother and do all they can for her. That’s love. Trust you are feeling much better, Ruby Jean. God bless.

Happy birthday to the following friends who will celebrate their birthdays during this month of February: Cree Moore, Kyra Siler, Jackie Gallaher, Willene Gordon, LaToya Martin and the Rev. Alvin Douglass.

I hope each of you had a happy day and that you will live to have many more blessed days.

Carolyn Griffin spent last Wednesday visiting her dear friend Edith Candage in Jamestown. Edith is always happy to have Carolyn visit her. Edith says she makes her day.

I wish the Rev. Anthony Cannon a speedy recovery. Anthony had surgery in Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. He is now recuperating at home.

I wish my niece Cheron Winton a happy birthday. Cheron was 29 on Thursday, Feb. 21.

Also, happy birthday to my great-grandson Je Miale McKenney, who will celebrate his special day Feb. 26. Je Miale will be 29. He is also a graduate of Harriman High School, and so is Cheron.

Tuesday, Feb. 26, Stephanie Clemmons celebrated her birthday. She is the wife of Mel Clemmons, and she is my friend. I’m sure she had a great day and may you have many more years of life.

Mark’s Chapel Choir anniversary is March 3. First Baptist choir anniversary is March 9, and the pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Joseph Weaver is March 10.

Everyone is welcome to take part in all of these services.
