A fight and threats involving a knife landed a man in jail on multiple charges of assault.
Richard Carl Johnson Jr., 48, 213 Crystal Lane, Oliver Springs, was charged with two counts aggravated assault, two counts reckless endangerment, aggravated child abuse and neglect, public intoxication and unlawful carry.
Officer Sgt. Charlie Graham said he went to 424 Sunflower Lane at the Green Acres Trailer Park in reference to a fight involving a large knife. Victims said an intoxicated Johnson shoved their 13-year-old son into a vehicle and attempted to assault him. The boy’s father, Velmore Bouchard and an older son attempted to stop the assault, Graham reported. A fight ensued and Johnson left. Witnesses told Graham that Johnson came back carrying a large knife, screaming that he was going to kill them all.
Johnson had head injuries and was taken to Methodist Medical Center for evaluation, then taken into custody.
This isn’t Johnson’s first run in with law enforcement. He entered a guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter in June 2010. He killed Glenn R. “Shaky” McGee, who was found dead in Johnson’s kitchen in a pool of blood from blunt force trauma injuries. The death occurred in July 2009.
