Four hurt in Midtown crash

Four people were injured Monday night in a headon collision near the entrance to the Roane County Ambulance Service on Hwy. 70, Midtown. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, an eastbound Honda Accord driven by Gary Ward of Kingston was attempting to pass another vehicle when it struck a westbound Mitsubishi driven by Randa Julian of Kingston . Roane County Rescue Squad volunteers were summoned to extract Ward from the damaged vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville. His passenger, Michelle Malicoat, was taken by Lifestar helicopter to UT. Julian and her passenger, Darlee Chestnutt of Chattanooga ,were taken by ambulance to Roane Medical Center, Harriman. The Highway Patrol also reported that Ward was driving with his vehicle headlights off when the mishap occurred.
