Purpose of the event, in its second year, was to get children excited about being outdoors, having fun while being involved in physical activity and providing a fun family event.

Bowers, Kingston, Midway and Midtown elementary schools were represented. Each will receive a minimum of $100 worth of equipment for their physical education programs.

Students in K-2 participated in a 75-yard relay event. Grades 3-5 participated in a quarter mile relay event. Winners in each grade level received medals for their accomplishments.

An inflatable bounce room and slide were available for students to enjoy while they waited for their event to be called.

Each participant received a backpack filled with pedometers, pencils and other goodies, compliments of Coordinated Schools Health.

Parents received information on Internet and bike safety and care and prevention of head injury. Roane County recipe books were given out as a Mother’s Day treat.

Assisting with organizing and carrying out the running events were Kingston Elementary PE teachers Annie Scarborough and Rosie Sexton and Midway PE teacher Randy Steele.

Kingston Elementary teachers and parents helped with registration and during the races.
