Girl Scouts want to reconnect with ex-troop members

The Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is looking to reconnect with former Girl Scouts.

“We know there is a strong network of local women who are former Girl Scouts,” said Booth Kammann, CEO for the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians. “We want to reconnect with those women and provide them opportunities to tell their stories and become involved in shaping the lives of our future women leaders.”

Former Girl Scouts are asked to visit www.girlscoutcsa.org and click the “Reconnect” link. They will be asked to complete a short questionnaire and are automatically subscribed to receive an Alumnae Newsletter with information on local council activities, volunteer opportunities and other events.

Women can also reconnect via the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GSCSA and choosing the “Reconnect with Us” link.

Along with the alumnae initiative, three major Girl Scout Cookie Program events are underway.

Cookie booth sales will continue through March 23. Booths will feature the council’s “Top 6” best sellers at $4 per box.

Operation: APPRECIATION continues as troops try to reach their goal of selling and sending 20,000 boxes of cookies directly to the armed forces in appreciation of their service. This is a great option for community members who want to support Girl Scouts but might not want to eat cookies themselves.

The “Want Cookies? Win Cookies!” Facebook sweepstakes is also taking place through March 30. Facebook users simply need to “like” the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians page, then click the link and enter to win.

The winner will be selected randomly and will receive 52 boxes of cookies – the equivalent of one box per week for a year.
