Extra smiles and giggles filled Midtown Elementary’s cafeteria last week as grandparents enjoyed lunch with their grandchildren to celebrate Grandparents Day.
“This is a big day for us,” Kendra Inman, principal at Midtown, said “The children have been so excited and looking forward to it.”
Quentin Kolski, fifth grader, enjoyed a Thanksgiving style lunch with his Nana and Papaw Tuesday.
This was Frank and Pat Kolski’s first time visiting Quentin’s school.
“I couldn’t sleep last night, I was so excited about today,” Frank “Papaw” said to Quentin.
Pat “Nana” also praised the food, saying it was “delicious.”
Inman states that they really encourage family involvement with the children especially grandparents.
Wyatt Nipper, fourth grader, looks up into his grandma Wilma Potter’s eyes as they hug goodbye after having lunch together.
After having five granddaughters and one great-granddaughter Potter almost gave up hope on having a grandson.
