Richard Pickell Gymnasium was anything but a home court advantage for the Harriman Blue Devils Thursday night as the visiting Greenback Cherokees left the Devils Den with a District 3-A sweep.
In the girls game, Harriman outscored Greenback 34-26 from the field, but the Lady Cherokees held a 23-11 advantage at the charity stripe and that was the difference in Greenback picking up a 49-45 victory.
The boys game was more of the same as the Cherokees outscored Harriman 25-14 at the foul stripe and that helped the Cherokees pick up a 66-54 victory.
The defending district champion Lady Cherokees showed Thursday night that they are again the team to beat in District 3-A as they held off Harriman, 49-45.
Greenback held the lead for much of the evening as they led 8-5 after eight minutes of play and 20-11 at halftime.
The third period would see Harriman close the gap as Kiersten Douglass scored six points in the period to pull the Lady Devils to within 26-22 with eight minutes to play.
The final period was a long one as both teams shot a lot of free throws, but Greenback did not miss enough freebies for Harriman to comeback.
Douglass did scored seven points in the final period for Harriman while Jasmine Fuqua added a pair of three-point baskets.
Greenback went 23-38 from the charity stripe on the night while Harriman made 11-18.
Greenback's Jama Hammontree led all scorers on the night with 15 points.
Douglass (13 points) and Fuqua (12 points) each scored in double figures for Harriman.

Harriman played well for two quarters, but the second half belonged to Greenback as the Cherokees outscored the Blue Devils 66-54 in the final period to pick up the 66-54 victory.
Harriman led 12-11 after eight minutes of play and 31-25 at halftime thanks in large part to four three-point baskets, two from Cody McGill and one each from Tee Steinmetz and Jonathan Fuqua.
Greenback, however, made their charge in the third quarter as the Cherokees outscored the Devils 17-11 in the period.
Harriman came back and took a three-point lead late in the contest, but Greenback wrestled the lead away and then sealed the deal at the charity stripe.
Greenback hit 25-41 free throws on the night while Harriman made 14-21 charity tosses.
Mykal Titlow (18 points) and Michael Mardis (17 points) scored in double figures for Greenback while Darius Gallaher (15 points), Jarvis Inman (13 points) and Dimitrique Inman (13 points) scored in double digits for the Blue Devils.
